« Les érotiques », exhibition at the Vallois Gallery, from November 6 to 28, 2015
opening on November 6, 2015 at 41 rue de Seine – Paris 6e
as part of the event Photo Saint-Germain

Exhibition of photographic prints, paintings, and archival documents presenting the making of and sculptures.

Yehuda Neiman was a free spirit who unfailingly refused to discuss his work as an artist
or to be attached to a group. To approach his art, we have to be content with the few words that some like Pierre Restany extracted from him in 1967 during a filmed interview, and above all look at his productions.
To formulate hypotheses on what the artist intends to make us see, in what way he gives us to see, we can observe for example the points of view that he himself adopts, placing us like Nitta Mitsuo in the photographer’s studio, the antechamber of the creation.
With regard to the whole of his work the woman is his privileged source of inspiration and by woman he seems to suggest something of formal perfection. Neiman shows his passion for the natural form: breasts, buttocks, hips, loins, and pushing his investigation to the limits, he arrives at sex, the door to the world.
With this motif, a probable homage to Courbet’s famous painting, The Origin of the World, Neiman indefinitely renews his questioning of creation. He adopts this same point of view on the crotch during different photo sessions with different models, and he varies his works, their nature, their dimension. He puts all his art in proposing different compositions: from the kaleidoscope made of the repetition of the same image inverted and turned over then assembled to the purity of the form composed in corolla, and from the two-dimensional work to the three-dimensional one with mouldings and jewels.
